This uplifting video teaches why believers in CHRiST express joy even in trying times, for the hope that lies within us. It is because the Holy Spirit renews the mind and gives a new desire for GOD, HIS SON, and the Bible. This is the "new birth". Over time, from knowing, believing and trusting in JESUS CHRiST, and HIS finished work, GOD's Word transforms the believer and a renewed mind results. These effects are due to HIS love.

Two themes of John Chapters 20 and 21: (1) JESUS proves HIS Deity, (2) JESUS restores the Apostle Peter.

Definitions of terms:

Gospel: "Good news" for all who believe. https://www.ligonier.org/learn/series/what-is-the-gospel https://www.ligonier.org/learn/conferences/next-500-years-2017-national-conference/nonnegotiable-gospel

Deity: JESUS is the express image of GOD in flesh. https://www.thegospelcoalition.org/essay/the-deity-of-christ/

Messiah: "anointed one", promised Savior to save HIS people from their sins Matthew 1:21

Messiahship: the role, office and purpose of the Messiah.

Eternal life: never ending life after physical death. The Bible teaches all die but then enter Heaven or Hell.

Evangelism: to obey the great commission to go and preach the Gospel in all places until the end of time.

"clay pots": a metaphor of humans created from dust by GOD. See Genesis 2:7; Isaiah 64:8, 29:16; Jeremiah 18; Job 10:9; Romans 9:21.

"ordination papers": A written summary of a ministerial candidate's beliefs and experiences submitted for review and approval by a higher church authority. In Peter's case, this phrase refers to the Apostle's history with CHRiST.

Disciple: a follower who embraces JESUS and his teaching. John acquired the name the "beloved disciple".

Regeneration: Holy Spirit’s “New birth.” Believer's deliverance from power of sin, self, blindness, ignorance and hatred of GOD by the Holy Spirit, and the Word. Conversion is when the regenerated sinner becomes aware of the change and remains a sinner. Sanctification (set apart, slow growth in holiness after conversion), glorification (absence of sin in Heaven).

Omniscience: "the state of having total knowledge, the quality of knowing everything." 4 Greek words for love: Agape=unconditional love; Phileo=brotherly love; Storge=family love; Eros=romantic http://www.blessingofheaven.org/blog/the-4-greek-words-for-love-used-in-new-testament

Depravity: Biblically, sinners cannot please GOD, are unable and unwilling to obey GOD. Inclined to sin versus holiness. Sin is any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of GOD. Sin affects all aspects of our being. https://www.apuritansmind.com/westminster-standards/chapter-6/

Repentance: Change of mind re: beliefs, sinful pride, and a new concern for ultimate destiny of one’s soul. Remorse or contrition for past conduct or sin, thus turning to TRUTH about GOD and man. https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/repentance-bible-verses/

Salvation: Adopted into the family of GOD by the work of the Holy Spirit and the Word preached and written. Saved from HIS wrath soon to come to all who reject HIS Son, the LORD JESUS CHRiST. A judicial pardon.

Grace: GOD’s unmerited favor toward all sinners, especially toward HIS people justly deserving HIS wrath.

Faith: Belief, trust, assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen. Not doubt. https://www.biblestudytools.com/topical-verses/faith-bible-verses/ righteousness (GOD's holiness, honest and true, sinless); redemption (set free as a slave bought by a price) https://www.ligonier.org/learn/devotionals/redemption-christ

Biblical Proof Texts: (NASB)

John 20:30-31 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+20&version=NASB1995 30 Therefore many other signs Jesus also performed in the presence of the disciples, which are not written in this book; 31 but these have been written so that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God; and that believing you may have life in His name.

John 21:24-25 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NASB1995 24 This is the disciple who is testifying to these things and wrote these things, and we know that his testimony is true. 25 And there are also many other things which Jesus did, which if they were written in detail, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that *would be written.

John 21:1-3 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NASB1995 1 After these things Jesus manifested Himself again to the disciples at the Sea of Tiberias, and He manifested Himself in this way. 2 Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of His disciples were together. 3 Simon Peter said to them, “I am going fishing.” They *said to him, “We will also come with you.” They went out and got into the boat; and that night they caught nothing.

John 21:4-5 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NASB1995 4 But when the day was now breaking, Jesus stood on the beach; yet the disciples did not know that it was Jesus. 5 So Jesus said to them, “Children, you do not have any fish, do you?” They answered Him, “No.”

Luke 5:1-11 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=lUKE+5&version=NASB1995 1 Now it happened that while the crowd was pressing around Him and listening to the word of God, He was standing by the lake of Gennesaret; 2 and He saw two boats lying at the edge of the lake; but the fishermen had gotten out of them and were washing their nets. 3 And He got into one of the boats, which was Simon’s, and asked him to put out a little way from the land. And He sat down and began teaching the people from the boat. 4 When He had finished speaking, He said to Simon, “Put out into the deep water and let down your nets for a catch.” 5 Simon answered and said, “Master, we worked hard all night and caught nothing, but I will do as You say and let down the nets.” 6 When they had done this, they enclosed a great quantity of fish, and their nets began to break; 7 so they signaled to their partners in the other boat for them to come and help them. And they came and filled both of the boats, so that they began to sink. 8 But when Simon Peter saw that, he fell down at Jesus’ feet, saying, “Go away from me Lord, for I am a sinful man!” 9 For amazement had seized him and all his companions because of the catch of fish which they had taken; 10 and so also were James and John, sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, “Do not fear, from now on you will be catching men.” 11 When they had brought their boats to land, they left everything and followed Him.

John 21:5-6; 8-11 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NASB1995 6 And He said to them, “Cast the net on the right-hand side of the boat and you will find a catch.” So they cast, and then they were not able to haul it in because of the great number of fish. 7 Therefore that disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord.” So when Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put his outer garment on (for he was stripped for work), and threw himself into the sea. 8 But the other disciples came in the little boat, for they were not far from the land, but about one hundred yards away, dragging the net full of fish. 9 So when they got out on the land, they saw a charcoal fire already laid and fish placed on it, and bread. 10 Jesus said to them, “Bring some of the fish which you have now caught.” 11 Simon Peter went up and drew the net to land, full of large fish, a hundred and fifty-three [153]; and although there were so many, the net was not torn.

Matthew 4:18-20 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Matthew%204&version=NASB1995 18 Now as Jesus was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two brothers, Simon who was called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea; for they were fishermen. 19 And He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” 20 Immediately they left their nets and followed Him.

Luke 9:23-24 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Luke+9&version=NASB1995 23 And He was saying to them all, “If anyone wishes to come after Me, he must deny himself, and take up his cross daily and follow Me. 24 For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake, he is the one who will save it.

John 18:17, 25-27 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%2018&version=NASB1995 Simon Peter denies CHRiST 3 times. 17 Then the slave-girl who kept the door said to Peter, “You are not also one of this man’s disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.”… 25 Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”.. 27 Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You are not also one of His disciples, are you?” He denied it, and said, “I am not.”

John 21:12-23 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+21&version=NASB1995 12 Jesus said to them, “Come and have breakfast.” None of the disciples ventured to question Him, “Who are You?” knowing that it was the Lord. 13 Jesus *came and took the bread and gave it to them, and the fish likewise. 14 This is now the third time that Jesus was manifested to the disciples, after He was raised from the dead. 15 So when they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, “Simon, son of John, do you love [agape] Me more than these?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love [phileo] You.” He said to him, “Tend My lambs.” 16 He said to him again a second time, “Simon, son of John, do you love [agape] Me?” He said to Him, “Yes, Lord; You know that I love [phileo] You.” He said to him, “Shepherd My sheep.” 17 He said to him the third time, “Simon, son of John, do you love [phileo] Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love [phileo] You.” Jesus said to him, “Tend My sheep. 18 Truly, truly, I say to you, when you were younger, you used to gird yourself and walk wherever you wished; but when you grow old, you will stretch out your hands and someone else will gird you, and bring you where you do not wish to go.” 19 Now this He said, signifying by what kind of death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, “Follow Me!” 20 Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following them; the one who also had leaned back on His bosom at the supper [the disciple John] and said, “Lord, who is the one who betrays You?” 21 So Peter seeing him said to Jesus, “Lord, and what about this man?” 22 Jesus said to him, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you? You follow Me!” 23 Therefore this saying went out among the brethren that that disciple would not die; yet Jesus did not say to him that he would not die, but only, “If I want him to remain until I come, what is that to you?”

1 Peter 5:1-4 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Peter+5&version=NASB1995 1 Therefore, I exhort the elders among you, as your fellow elder and witness of the sufferings of Christ, and a partaker also of the glory that is to be revealed, 2 shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness; 3 nor yet as lording it over those allotted to your charge, but proving to be examples to the flock. 4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the unfading crown of glory. (...) 10 For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” 12 For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, 13 for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” 14 How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? 15 And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!... 17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ.
