The Bible explains why sinners are unable and unwilling to believe and be converted to CHRiST. A better definition might be "radical corruption".

https://www.ligonier.org/learn/articles/tulip-and-reformed-theology-total-depravity Closely related is "original sin". This video teaches the historical concept of man's fallen condition often referred to as "total depravity". MacArthur provides the Bible warrants for the "T", provided herein.

A common memory aide is the acrostic "TULIP", often referred to as "the 5 points of Calvinism" or the “doctrines of Grace”, and affirmed through church history. TULIP helps one understand how GOD the Holy Spirit works in a sinful creature's mind to create a new convert.

Yet the modern church has largely ignored the truth of Scripture because sinful men hate the fact they have nothing to do with regeneration, repentance and salvation. It is all by the supernatural power of the Creator GOD the Father, SON and Holy Spirit to set apart a family from every nation, tribe and tongue, for HIS Glory to be revealed at the end of time.

Faith [saving faith] comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of GOD…How can they hear unless the preacher is sent. Romans 10:14-15,17.

Definitions of terms:

Biblical Proof Texts: (NASB)

Ephesians 2: 1-10 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+2&version=NASB1995 And you were dead in your trespasses and sins, in which you formerly walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, of the spirit that is now working in the sons of disobedience. Among them we too all formerly lived in the lusts of our flesh, indulging the desires of the flesh and of the mind, and were by nature children of wrath, even as the rest.

But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (by grace you have been saved), and raised us up with Him, and seated us with Him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the ages to come He might show the surpassing riches of His grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.

For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God; not as a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them.

Romans 5:12-14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%205&version=NASB1995 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned— for until the Law sin was in the world, but sin is not imputed when there is no law. 14 Nevertheless death reigned from Adam until Moses, even over those who had not sinned in the likeness of the offense of Adam, who is a type of Him who was to come.

1 Corinthians 15:21-22 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+15&version=NASB1995 For since by a man came death, by a man also came the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ all will be made alive.

1 John 2:15-17 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+John+2&version=NASB1995 not love the world nor the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world. 17 The world is passing away, and also its lusts; but the one who does the will of God lives forever.

Ephesians 4:18 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians%204&version=NASB1995 being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart;

Colossians 2:13 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Colossians%202&version=NASB1995 When you were dead in your transgressions and the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven us all our transgressions,

John 11: 43-44 Lazarus https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+11&version=NASB1995 When He had said these things, He cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth.” The man who had died came forth, bound hand and foot with wrappings, and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “Unbind him, and let him go.”

John 1:12-13 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John%201&version=NASB1995But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name, who were born, not of blood nor of the will of the flesh nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 3:4-8 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+3&version=NASB1995 Nicodemus said to Him, “How can a man be born when he is old? He cannot enter a second time into his mother’s womb and be born, can he?” Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh, and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not be amazed that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear the sound of it, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

John 5:21 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+5&version=NASB1995 For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.

John 6:44 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+6&version=NASB1995 No one can come to Me unless the Father who sent Me draws him; and I will raise him up on the last day.

John 8:36 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=John+8&version=NASB1995 So if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

Jeremiah: 17:9 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah+17&version=NASB1995 “The heart is more deceitful than all else And is desperately sick; Who can understand it?

Jeremiah: 13:22-23 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Jeremiah%2013&version=NASB1995 “If you say in your heart, ‘Why have these things happened to me?’ Because of the magnitude of your iniquity Your skirts have been removed And your heels have been exposed. “Can the Ethiopian change his skin Or the leopard his spots? Then you also can do good Who are accustomed to doing evil.

Ezekiel 36:25-27 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ezekiel+36&version=NASB1995 Then I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your filthiness and from all your idols. Moreover, I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit within you; and I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh. I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to observe My ordinances.

Romans 8: 6-8 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans%208&version=NASB1995 For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, because the mind set on the flesh is hostile toward God; for it does not subject itself to the law of God, for it is not even able to do so, and those who are in the flesh cannot please God. [See Romans 7]

1 Corinthians 2:14 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%202&version=NASB1995 But a natural man does not accept the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually appraised.

1 Corinthians 12:3 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1%20Corinthians%2012&version=NASB1995 Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed”; and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.

2 Corinthians 4:4-6 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2%20Corinthians%204&version=NASB1995 in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving so that they might not see the light of the gospel of the glory of Christ, who is the image of God. For we do not preach ourselves but Christ Jesus as Lord, and ourselves as your bond-servants for Jesus’ sake. For God, who said, “Light shall shine out of darkness,” is the One who has shone in our hearts to give the Light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Christ.

Mark 7:14-23 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark+7&version=NASB1995 After He called the crowd to Him again, He began saying to them, “Listen to Me, all of you, and understand: there is nothing outside the man which can defile him if it goes into him; but the things which proceed out of the man are what defile the man. [If anyone has ears to hear, let him hear.”] When he had left the crowd and entered the house, His disciples questioned Him about the parable. And He *said to them, “Are you so lacking in understanding also? Do you not understand that whatever goes into the man from outside cannot defile him, because it does not go into his heart, but into his stomach, and is eliminated?” (Thus He declared all foods clean.) And He was saying, “That which proceeds out of the man, that is what defiles the man. For from within, out of the heart of men, proceed the evil thoughts, fornications, thefts, murders, adulteries, deeds of coveting and wickedness, as well as deceit, sensuality, envy, slander, pride and foolishness. All these evil things proceed from within and defile the man.”

Romans 3:9-18 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Romans+3&version=NASB1995 What then? Are we better than they? Not at all; for we have already charged that both Jews and Greeks are all under sin; as it is written, “There is none righteous, not even one; There is none who understands, There is none who seeks for God; All have turned aside, together they have become useless; There is none who does good, There is not even one.” “Their throat is an open grave, With their tongues they keep deceiving,” “The poison of asps is under their lips”; “Whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness”; “Their feet are swift to shed blood, Destruction and misery are in their paths, And the path of peace they have not known.” “There is no fear of God before their eyes.”

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=1+Corinthians+1&version=NASB1995 For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not manymighty, not many noble; but God has chosen the foolish things of the world to shame the wise, and God has chosen the weak things of the world to shame the things which are strong, and the base things of the world and the despised God has chosen, the things that are not, so that He may nullify the things that are, so that no man may boast before God. But by His doing you are in Christ Jesus, who became to us wisdom from God, and righteousness and sanctification, and redemption, so that, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.”

Ephesians 1 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Ephesians+1&version=NASB1995 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace 8 which He lavished on us. In all wisdom and insight 9 He made known to us the mystery of His will, according to His kind intention which He purposed in Him

2 Timothy 2:24-26 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=2+Timothy+2&version=NASB1995 The Lord’s bond-servant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

Titus 3:3-7 https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Titus+3&version=NASB1995 For we also once were foolish ourselves, disobedient, deceived, enslaved to various lusts and pleasures, spending our life in malice and envy, hateful, hating one another. But when the kindness of God our Savior and His love for mankind appeared, He saved us, not on the basis of deeds which we have done in righteousness, but according to His mercy, by the washing of regeneration and renewing by the Holy Spirit, whom He poured out upon us richly through Jesus Christ our Savior, that being justified by His grace we would be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.

Implications of the Doctrine of Total Depravity - Natural Man hates the GOD of the Bible and creates idols.

Modernism and Liberalism: Doctrine is divisive, Let us just live like JESUS, help the poor, live in the world. Corrupted the meaning of 16th century "evangelicalism". Deceived by Church programs, Sensual appetites.Church-growth movement, i.e., "seeker-sensitive", use of persuasive methods, use modern business methods, Change the methods, submit to the fallen sinners natural desires, false appeals using the sinner's sin, "flee to the cross", success, embrace cultural norms such as the prosperity gospel, liberation theology.

"Soft preaching makes hard selfish people…Faithful gospel preachers can take absolutely no credit for everything they do. They can only take credit for what they mess up!" For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. 11 As Scripture says, “Anyone who believes in him will never be put to shame.” For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile—the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for, “Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!... Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word about Christ. There is a difference between religion and salvation - a great and eternal chasm.
