Happy Day: "Nana" Visited Me in Maryville

To My Beloveds,

This letter reveals my hope and desires that GOD will one day claim you as HIS own.

I leave my Bible for you as your own as follows: each year on your birthday, hand it on to the other. The exchange date is your birthday. My intent is for you to meet each other on your birthday, or as agreed, to exchange the Bible.

After you keep the Bible for your part of the year, and before you exchange it, I ask that you write a brief report what you read and what you learned about GOD, HIS SON and HIS Redemptive plan. Your parents should help compose this letter. Consider hearing a thoroughly reformed expository preacher teach a sermon or two about what you read. Discuss this report with your parents, grandparents, and with each other. Thus, others observe your growth in knowledge about the "words of Life and the cure for sin and death".

Save the report in a notebook so you can read it as you age and, as the LORD provides, read it to your own children, and to your beloveds, on my or Ben's or Lois' birthday each year.

I remind you how thankful Lois and I are for you, and for your parents and especially for Henry and Susan Johnson. GOD brought great joy and happiness into our lives, the best blessing we have known. These beloveds will teach you the "doctrines of Grace", demonstrating in their lives, GOD's power and love, how HE changes a sinner into the image of CHRiST.

Never forget how precious you are. I pray daily for you and for your salvation.
