Letter for John Benjamin Quillen (almost 4 years old)
I approach my 76th "orbit", and my health is declining. So while able, I write. I hope you are mature enough when you read or hear this to understand my thoughts about you and your life. And consider them.
First, I am thankful for you, especially seeing how your Mom and Dad are caring for you and for your health and welfare. Later, when you have your own children, then you will know how wonderful your life has meant to Lois and me. I love to hear new "John stories" about your amazing creativity and sensitivity, for example, "Grandpa, did you have a good day?", seeing the video and images of your experiences like Dad pushing you on the bike, "Go fast", you said. Watching you grow is a continuous joy, so I am amazed, truly amazed, and grateful. It appears to me that you are an exceptional person, one whom GOD has blessed in abundance.
Time is fading away and fast. You must be careful, very cautious, how to manage it. And your discipline to choose whom you will associate with as others can be good or bad influence.
Lessons I learned: Wisdom is more precious than rubies… Do not forsake her, and she will guard you; Love her, and she will watch over you. The beginning of wisdom is: Acquire wisdom; And with all your acquiring, get understanding." Proverbs 3 and 4 NASB Study the Bible, become fluent in it. Focused routine study of GOD's Word written. JESUS promised the Holy Spirit will guide you to all truth. John 14
The most crucial essence of learning wisdom: But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you. Matthew 6:33 NASB. Pray for truth about JESUS. "Be diligent to present yourself approved to GOD as a workman who does not need to be ashamed, accurately handling the word of truth…And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to GOD must believe that HE is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek HIM." 2 Timothy 2:15; Hebrews 11:6 NASB
There are many other things I want to say. Maybe you can read some of my recent essays trying to help others grasp the truth and the lies in our times. Yet I know you will grow and learn about the essentials of a life well lived.
Sola DEO Gloria,
ALLEN E. QUILLEN
